WordPress is not only the most popular but also most widely used CMS (Content Management System). Although its commonly used as  a blogging platform while at the same time its preferred by a major part of the world as a general CMS as well. One of the primative reasons behind why I’m writing my first informative post on this blog is about wordpress is that this blog is running on wordpress too. I’ve been a huge fan of it since beginning and I use wordpress itself in almost all of my projects.I suppose this is going to take long so rather than elaborating each feature it possess I’ll highlight its key features why I and everyone else loves wordpress and what makes it the Most Powerful CMS among the hundreds of CMS’s around.

  • Above all its absolutely Free of Cost and open source.
  • Installing wordpress is extremely easy and takes minimal time.
  • You can find thousands of themes (Designs) and plugins (Enhancements) for customizations.
  • No need to look for a programmer for writing any codes as it eradicates all the need for a programmer.
  • There is no limitation to the number of users you may have in your userbase may it be an author, contributor or simply a subscriber.
  • No boundation for place as all it needs is just your username and password which lets you access it from anywhere at anytime.
  • Regularly upgraded and any issues which are reported are patched ASAP
  • Takes care for security of your data.
  • Its backend is pretty simple and user friendly allowing even a layman to be able to work with it.
  • With the latest versions of WordPress the needs for even FTP (File Transfer Protocol) are being eradicated for simplifying its use further.
  • Its not only loved by humans but also by Search Engine Bots making the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) alot more easier.

Well these were some of the key features of wordpress while there’s alot more to say about it. Its not just that individuals are using wordpress but a number of big and popular sites are using it too including Yahoo, ZDNet, TechCrunch, eBay, Digg, Ford, Sony, Wall Street Journal, Samsung, NY Times, Mozilla, Network Solutions, CNN, Download.com, Flickr and alot more.
